Gender-Neutral Spaces
Gender-neutral spaces prove to be important to all kinds of people. One article from Arizona State University discussed treating gender-neutral restrooms on campus with extra care since they cater to a variety of people such as LGBTQ+ individuals, parents with kids, and disabled people. Another article mentioned how the conversion of public single use restrooms to gender-neutral bathrooms in Howard County, Maryland is a win for disabled people and LGBTQ+ individuals.
The Shelter Island Board of Education has also made a new policy in which all single use bathrooms will be gender neutral. Marist College will be allowing gender-neutral housing for its students starting in Fall 2021. One article highlighted a gender-neutral sugar waxing studio entitled Fauna Sugaring. The owner of the studio stated, “This doesn’t have a cut-off of how you identify, where you were born, what your skin colour is, who you are, where you live. It’s a service for people to enjoy, and I literally mean people.”
