Gender-Neutral Restrooms and Spaces
More public spaces are becoming gender-neutral. Bridgewater State University’s Athletic Department won an award for their acts of inclusivity towards LGBTQ+ athletes, such as installing gender-neutral restrooms. Harvard’s Gender Inclusive Mapping Project is currently designing an app that will display and locate all gender-neutral bathrooms on campus. The co-chair of the project stated they, “sought to ensure that all Harvard community members, including those who are transgender, gender nonbinary, and gender nonconforming, have accurate and inclusive means of locating restrooms at Harvard.” Meanwhile, the Peterborough Sport and Wellness Centre in Canada is transforming its three large changing rooms into 35 private gender-neutral changing rooms. The Royal Military Academy in the United Kingdom have recently added gender-neutral restrooms.
